About Wendy Pieh:
“I am very excited about returning to the House of Representatives.” Wendy served two terms as a State Representative several years ago, and was again elected to the House in 2006. Wendy says she “enjoyed both the challenges and achievements of working hard for the people of Maine”. She spent many years working in Augusta around education issues, and learned a lot about the political process from a different perspective. “My primary interest remains in the concerns of my neighbors and constituents and in bringing these concerns directly to the policy process in the State House,” said Wendy.
Marge Kilkelly was the Lincoln County Senator when Pieh was a State Representative. “I was honored to share a ticket with Wendy. Her experience as a dedicated legislator, committed to high quality work for her constituents, whether in law-making or resolving problems for individuals here in her District, are of great benefit in Augusta. We worked together on many issues of importance to folks in Lincoln County and throughout the State,” stated Kilkelly.
Sheriff Todd Brackett had this to say: “As the newly elected Lincoln County Sheriff, Wendy provided support and insight in how to be effective when working at a state level. I look forward to voting for her and to working with her as she returns to the State House as our State Representative.”
Rep. Glenn Cummings, the Speaker of the House, worked with Pieh when he was the House Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs when Wendy was working for the Maine School Management Association, advocating on behalf of the State’s superintendents and school boards. “Wendy came to all of our public hearings and work sessions well prepared and with a great deal of insight into the Legislative process. She is a very hard worker, and I have been very impressed with her contributions in her leadership role during the 123 rd Legislature,” Cummings said.
Wendy and her husband, Dr. Peter Goth, own and operate Springtide Farm. They raise a large herd of Cashmere goats and sell breeding stock and Cashmere products all over the country. Dr. Goth is on the medical staff at Miles Memorial Hospital, works in the emergency rooms of various Maine hospitals, and also is a leading educator at a national level in the field of emergency medicine.
As a three term State Representative, Wendy is the House Chair of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee. She is also the co-chair for the Natural Resource Agencies Task Force, and the Farmland Protection Study. Now finishing her term in the 123 rd Legislature, Wendy is again preparing to serve her constituents in the 124 th Legislature as only she can. For Wendy it’s simple – it’s all about people - listening to the people she serves and doing the very best she can serve them. Her constituents are indeed lucky to have her.
